Abstract

This work, edited and coordinated by the Marine Protected Area Gaiola Underwater Park, is developed in the Special Area of Conservation IT-8030041 "Fondali Marini di Gaiola e Nisida", within the FEAMP 2014-2020, Measure: "1.40 - Protection and restoration of biodiversity and marine ecosystems and compensation schemes in the context of sustainable fishing activities". In full coherence with the objectives of Measure 1.40, it was aimed at achieving three main targets considered priority and instrumental to satisfy and fill some knowledge gaps on the SAC: Target 1 - Ecological status: study on the consistency of fish stocks and spillover effect; Target 2 - Ecosystem restoration: interventions to restore the priority habitat 1120 Posidonia oceanica (L.) Delile, 1813; Target 3 - Fishing effort and mitigation: data acquisition on the fishing effort of small-scale fisheries and control of illegal fishing.
