Ericaria amentacea (C. Agardh) Molinari & Guiry is an endemic brown macroalga of the Mediterranean Sea belonging to the Cystoseira sensu lato group (Fucales, Phaeophyceae). The study was conducted along 100 metres of the Circeo National Park’s coast whose sea water is monitored by Arpa Lazio pursuant to Legislative Decree 152/06 and Legislative Decree 116/08. Sampling was carried out from January to September 2023. The application of the CarLit method (Cartography of littoral and upper sub-littoral benthic communities) conducted in the spring of 2022 and the observations carried out in the same area for the purposes of algal surveillance monitoring, (Legislative Decree 116/2008), showed that E. amentacea, compared to previous years, did not show marked highlight reproductive development and that the apices of the thalli did not show obvious receptacles. These observations gave rise to this study.
